Canelo alvarez temporarily forgot Dmitry Bivol had defeated him, and then corrected himself in a press conference following Gennady golovkin’s win

Canelo Alvarez briefly forgot that he’d been beaten by Dmitry Bivol earlier this year while he was speaking at his post-fight press conference after beating Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night.

From the beginning, Canelo was the dominant fighter in the bout.

Golovkin was not as effective in the first half, with the Mexican winning every round according to scores compiled by many media and fans at the ringside.

GGGHe showed a late revival and took over round nine, making the sessions more competitive.

Many believed otherwise, however. Canelo had done enough to win 10 or 11 of the 12 rounds.

The scorecards were not read as closely at 116-112, 115-2113, 115-113 and 115-113. However, it is clear that the Mexican is now the winner.

This win was especially important because it came after a surprise defeat for Canelo in May.

Before this year, he hadn’t been beaten since 2013, when he suffered his first loss to Floyd Mayweather.

Bivol’s unanimous decision victory put the second dent in Canelo’s impressive record.

It was so surprising that even the man forgot about it for a moment on Saturday night.

When asked a question about opponents potentially feeling more confident that they beat him, Canelo replied at the post-fight press conference: “Look, everybody can see it outside of the ring that they can beat me.

“But nobody – – very few people can beat me.

“It’s very difficult to beat me.”

Canelo plans to rematch Bivol next season, provided that the Russian wins his WBA light-heavyweight title defense against Gilberto Ramirez in November 5.
