Canelo Alvarez tells Gennady Golovkin during final pre-fight press conference that he plans to bounce back from Dmitry Bivol loss by knocking him out in ‘greatest fight in boxing today’

Canelo alvarez is looking to get back into the win column in style by winning KO over Gennady golovkin on Saturday night.

GGG plans to rise to super-middleweight and challenge his bitter rivals for his WBA, WBC IBF, WBO, WBC world titles. September 17In a trio bout at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas.

In 2017, Canelo and Golovkin shared the ring in an intense 12-round fight. Many felt that Canelo was denied victory.

Canelo won narrowly the next year. Majority Decision in their rematch but GGG has always insisted that he won both fights and now he’ll get his chance at revenge.

Canelo won 16 fights since then and is now the undisputed king of 168lbs. However, Canelo suffered a shocking defeat last time out against Dmitry Bivol, WBA light-heavyweight champion.

The 32-year old decided not to face Golovkin in an immediate rematch and instead he pressed ahead with plans to fight Golovkin again after 24 rounds.

“I’m really motivated to be here. Evidently, the [Bivol] defeat hurt but we are back on the path to greatness, and I’m really delighted to be,” Canelo said in Spanish at the pre-fight press conference.

“I feel like I work better under pressure and the pressure I’ve put on myself is to finish this inside the distance of 12 rounds. I know it’s going to be difficult but nothing in life is easy.

He wants to make a statement against his biggest rival and bounce back.


“I always looked to achieve what’s difficult and I’ve been really excited and motivated to try and finish this inside 12 rounds. It’s going to be difficult but that’s what I want to do on Saturday.”

The Mexican superstar’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, who is currently trying to make a fight between Tyson Fury & Anthony JoshuaCanelo-vs. Golovkin is the number 3 fight in boxing.

“We cannot wait for this fight,” the Matchroom Sports Chairman said.

“The greatest fight in boxing today and one of the greatest undercards we have put together. This event will take place at the T-Mobile on September 17th. [Arena] is one you will not forget.”

Golovkin was coy throughout and refused any predictions about the fight, nor to discuss how he felt about Canelo’s previous meetings.

Hearn, 40, agreed with Hearn that Saturday’s fight was too big and Hearn insists that he is more prepared than he thinks.  

“I think this is the biggest thing for boxing right now, the biggest gift for you, the fans. I feel very secure. You guys, I feel strong. See you Saturday night,” Golovkin said

After all the talking was done, Canelo and Golovkin went nose-to-nose for an intense face-off and posed for pictures before going their separate ways ahead of Friday’s weigh-in.
