California English teacher teaches grammar to children as part of White supremacy.

FIRST ON FOX – A self-identified “cringey” English teacher in CaliforniaAccording to her, she is fighting “white supremacy” or “B.S.” She teaches grammar usage and writing rules to students in her classroom.

Another included a prompt which said that a student’s “codes” – how they speak at home or with friends – is “just as important, if not more than important,” than a boss’s expectations on how their employee communicates. 

She said, “Just because your teachers, your professors, and your boss may expect you to write and speak in a certain way that may not be natural to you, does not mean that your more natural… languages are not important. They are just as important, if not more important than the ‘language of respectability.’”

According to the English teacher, she felt like a “cringe-white lady” while teaching students of color about linguistics.

“Did you worry that I was being a nuisance?” White Savior? Absolutely. It was uncomfortable. Definitely. However, a lot of my students are uncomfortable with the mainstream white culture of public school life. She said that she believed it was important for students to see their teacher address linguistic discomfort.
