Budweiser Will Ship Unsold Beer To The Country That Wins the World Cup

  • Qatar banned alcohol sales in World Cup stadiums suddenly, despite having allowed it previously.
  • Budweiser, the beer sponsor, ended up with a lot more unsold beer.
  • It posted a picture of a mountain of beer containers and stated that it would ship the unsold brew to the World Cup winner in 2022.

When FIFA has been announced a ban on the sale of alcoholic drinks at all eight World Cup 2022 stadiums on Friday — mere 48 hours before the first kickoff — Budweiser was left holding a limp $75 million beverage sponsorship dealYou can also enjoy a lot of beer.  

However, not all was falling apart. Anheuser-Busch InBev – the maker of Budweiser – announced via Twitter that it will give away its enormous surplus of unsold alcoholic beer for the 2022 World Cup Winner.

Budweiser wishes to bring this celebration to the FIFA World Cup venues to the winning nation’s fans. Insider was informed by Anheuser-Busch’s spokesperson that they will host the ultimate championship celebration of the winner country.

Budweiser has a deal of around $75 million with FIFA, soccer’s governing body, to supply beer at 2022 World Cup. Another deal is worth approximately $113 million for 2026 World Cup. Per The Sun. The same publication also states thatAfter the recent fiasco, it is possible that the beer giant will cut $47 million from the 2026 sponsorship deal. 

Qatar controls alcohol sales in the country. Consumption is restricted to bars and restaurants and not allowed on the streets. Budweiser was able to sell its drinks at certain venues, at certain times. However, it did agree to relax its alcohol restrictions.
