BTS: Jin to reportedly enlist in mandatory military service in December; here’s what he said

BTS’ oldest member Kim Seok-jin will reportedly begin his mandatory military service in December.

According to local media, the artist, who is 29 years old, will join the South Korean military in 2022 on December 13th.

According to reports, Kim Seok Jin (popularly known as Jin) will begin his mandatory five week training at Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi before he is deployed to a frontline team.

The first member of the South Korean phenomenon BTS to enlist in military service will be the oldest. Jin previously indicated that Jin was assigned to the frontline.

South Korea has made it mandatory that all able-bodied males under 30 years old must serve two years of military service. Kim Seok Jin, who turns 30 on December 4, 2022, is close to the age cutoff.

According to Yonhap news agency in South Korea, the senior member will start his five-week mandatory training at Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi.

Jin made a statement after the news broke that the star had enlisted in the military. On Thursday, confirming his enlistment, the star wrote, “There’s an article that I didn’t want, but ARMY can’t come to the training center.”

He wrote, “There are a lot of people besides me, so it could be dangerous because it’s crowded. ARMY, I love you.”

BTS fandom also known as the ARMY expressed concern when Jin confirmed his military enlistment.

Six more members of the septet including Suga, RM J-hope Jimin, Jimin, V and Jungkook will soon enlist in military service.
