For all the missed tackles, blown assignments and general breakdowns defensively this season — and there have been plenty — for all the misses in the kicking game — and they are mounting — the reality is the Browns are 2-3 right now because in those “gotta have it” moments from their quarterback, their quarterback doesn’t have it.
This shouldn’t be a surprise. Jacoby BrissettHe’s a career backup. He’s had some marvelous moments and performances this season. His greatest attributes were his ability to manage the offense and not let the ball go.
Instead, Brissett threw teeth-gnashing interceptions in the final minutes of all three Browns losses when they were trailing and needed a play by their quarterback. The Browns were within the 10, and only needed a field goal for the lead. He seemed to have enough space to run for the first down. At worst, he’s stopped on third down and they kick a short field goal to take the lead.
