Bronx mom blasts NYC crime following the shooting of her teenage daughter on Thanksgiving: ‘It is out of control.

According to police that on Thursday, in broad-daylight, a 14-year-old girl was shot at around 2:20 p.m. near East 225th Street and Schieffelin Avenue, across the street from the NYCHA’s Edenwald Houses. 

Cops believe that the girl was innocently bystander and the shooter, still at large, was targeting another person.

Police said the shooting took place near Edenwald Playground on Schieffelin Avenue near East 225th Street.

The victim’s mother, who didn’t want to be identified, said that her daughter and 16-year old son were sent to the store by her to get ingredients for a recipe. sweet potato holiday pie. Soon after they left their home, the man’s son called panicking and stated that his sister had been shot in her leg. 

“They literally just left the house – less than five minutes,” the woman said.

Before police and emergency services arrived to take care of her, the boy helped his sister to safety. Their mom arrived just in time to see the victim.

 “She was crying. I tried to get to my daughter but she was already on her leg,” the mother explained to the Post. “I was able touching her hand, to rub her head, to stroke her hair, to comfort her,” she said.

The teen girl was taken to Jacobi Medical CenterAccording to the Post, it was later released. 

The mother, distraught, said that the attack had shaken her family.

“It happened when her family was there to comfort her. She was surrounded in love,” she said. “I want the person who did this to pay, but God is in charge. If you don’t repent, you’ll pay one day.”

According to the Post, authorities didn’t have any information about a suspect. It is also unclear who the shooter was, according to the Post.
