Republican Nick LaLota beat Democrat Bridget Fleming at New York’s 1st Congressional District. This was a race to fill in the seat vacated by incumbent Republican Lee Zeldin. New York Governor lost to Zeldin. Kathy Hochul.Â

New York’s 1st Congressional district candidates
LaLota serves as chief of staff for the Suffolk County Legislature. Before running for CongressHe was a US Navy veteran, and he deployed to more than 20 countries. LaLota received a Joint Service Commendation Medal for his support of the Global War on Terrorism. He was also a member of Amityville’s Board of Trustees.Â
Fleming is LaLota’s opponent and a former prosecutor who currently represents District 2 in Suffolk County Legislature. Before running for CongressShe was an assistant district attorney in Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the managing attorney for pro bono programmes at the New York City Bar Association.Â
New York’s 1st Congressional District has a rich voting history
New York’s 1st Congressional Division covers the North Shore and Hamptons of Suffolk County. Â
