Brian Daboll is more than a great offensive mind for the Giants

The game was over. But it wasn’t over. With few leads, you are really safe. Packers quarterback Aaron RodgersOn the other sideline.

Late in last week’s game against the Packers, with the GiantsCoach Brian Daboll was leading by 27-20. The four-time MVP had marched the Packers down to the Giants’ 8-yard-line, the latest play a two-yard run by running back Aaron Jones.

Daboll clearly hoped that his defense would strengthen and stop the Packers. However, he had no choice but to prepare for the worst outcome: Green Bay would score touchdowns and tie the game with an extra points or take the lead with a successful two point conversion.

Daboll wanted to give his offensive time to respond in order to win in regulation, and avoid overtime. So after Jones’ run, Daboll called for his first timeout.

Of course, it was possible for the Packers to pick up a first down without scoring and render Daboll’s timeout moot, but that mattered little. He just wanted to give the offense as many chances as possible to respond.

Do not expect the worst, but hope for the best. That’s what good coaches do.
