Mike Tyson, the boxing icon and boxing champion, was captured on camera repeatedly punching another man in the face during a flight from San Francisco in April.
Tyson said that the man wanted a picture of him at first, but then he started provoking the former heavyweight champion. The beating was the result.
The man won’t be pressing charges against Tyson, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen M. Wagstaffe.
Now, the 56-yearold has spoken out about his experience. He revealed that he was feeling worse because he had been smoking marijuana all morning at a San Francisco festival celebrating legalization.
“First of all, I came from this place called Hippy Hill, 60,000 people were there smoking cannabis,” Piers Morgan heard Tyson speak on TalkTV.
“So, by the time I’m on the plane, I’m hungry, high and tired ok. And this guy keeps antagonising me. And then I came to my senses and kicked his f***king a**. I’m only joking. I wish I did kick his a**. My bodyguard jumped on top of him.”
Tyson stated that out of ten fan interactions one will try to get into trouble with him, but they rarely end in violence. This is partly because his wife will resent him for his actions.
“[There are] quite a few but I’ve only had to put my hands on one,” he added.
“Listen, I can’t play like that anymore or my wife gets mad. She doesn’t like my sense of humour. She thinks I’m going to get cancelled or some s**t.”
Tyson surprised everyone by making a surprise return to the ring, 15 years after he had been away from boxing. He was ready to take on another legend Roy Jones JrIn November 2020 in a fight which was ultimately declared a draw.
‘Iron Mike’ was initially expected to take a few more exhibition bouts but has since distanced himself from a ring return and seems to be done with the sport once again.
