Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke’s impressive stats revealed as Eddie Howe faces former club

Newcastle welcome Bournemouth to St James’ Park hoping to secure their second win of the season.

The Magpies started the Premier League well with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Manchester City. But momentum has slowed.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could cause Newcastle upset

The North East club has lost four of their six league matches. Eddie Howe now must prepare to face his former club, after an injury-time loss at Liverpool and a draw with Crystal Palace.

However it is not all bad for the Geordies as Bournemouth haven’t been in particular been on their best form.

With just two wins out of six, the Cherries’ return to the top flight has been tricky, including that 9-0 thrashing by Liverpool, which resulted in the sacking of Scott Parker.

Therefore a win for Newcastle could be on the horizon if Bournemouth’s striker Dominic Solanke doesn’t show up.

Newcastle have only won once during the Premier League season this term

This term, Newcastle has only won one Premier League title.

Solanke has scored 49 goals for Liverpool and 48 for Bournemouth in English league football. 45 of these goals were scored in Solanke’s last three seasons (90 matches), compared with just four in his three previous campaigns (63 games).

Not to mention the 25-year-old’s acrobatic equaliser and then tee’d up Jaidon Anthony to slot home the winner in the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Will the Magpies be able to secure the three crucial points? Or will Bournemouth win the game?

TalkSPORT EDGEHave a look.

  • Newcastle have lost just two of their eight Premier League meetings with Bournemouth (W4 D2), though both of those defeats came at St James’ Park (March 2016, November 2017)
  • Bournemouth has scored in all seven of their Premier League matches against Newcastle after failing to score in the first Premier League match. However, they’ve only kept one clean sheet in their eight top-flight meetings with the Magpies
  • Newcastle’s three Premier League wins against promoted sides are their longest run since seven in October 2013 and November 2014, when they won seven.
