Blue Jays Game 1 Starter Talks about the magnitude of their postseason debut: “Pressure is for Your Tires”

Alek ManoahThis year, he burst onto the scene and became one of baseball’s top pitchers.

His 2.24 ERA was fourth-lowest among all baseball players. He earned a spot on the Toronto Blue Jays’ Game 1 starting lineup against the Toronto Red Sox. Tampa Bay RaysIn a wild-card series.

This will be Manoah’s largest start in his professional career.

Manoah considers the pressure a privilege. He claims he doesn’t feel any.

“I had a coach that used to say, ‘Pressure is something that you put in your tires,'” Manoah said Thursday. “This is not baseball.. It’s just a game, just gotta go out there and have some fun and leave the pressure for your tires.”

Manoah understands the importance of Friday’s match. The Blue Jays are searching for their first World SeriesTitle since 1993. 11 other teams are competing for the same trophy.

“This is what it’s all about right here, right? You train all offseason, you train all year, you go through the ups and the downs, and this is what it’s all for. The bright lights. Postseason baseball. Manoah stated, “This is what you aspire to as a child.”
