BLACKPINK becomes the first female group with ‘BORN PINK’ to exceed one million sales in its first day

BLACKPINK has made their long-awaited comeback with the release of their new album, ‘Born Pink. Since then, the YG Entertainment group has broken records all over again.

According to Korean media, the girl group’s second full-length album sold more than 1 million copies on its first day of sales on Saturday. ‘Born Pink’ sold 1,011,000 copies on Friday, as per data from the local album sales tracker Hanteo Chart.

BLACKPINK’s debut album sold over 1 million copies the day it was released. This figure surpasses the 589,000 units sold on the first day of the band’s previous studio album, ‘The Album’, by nearly 1.7 times.

BLACKPINK’s 2 million-copy preorders have already made it the most popular K-pop girl band album.

The album already has success on the local music charts, with two of its songs reaching the top five on Melon’s Top 100 list. This is South Korea’s largest music service. The album’s main single, ‘Shut Down’, was followed closely by ‘Pink Venom’, which peaked at numbers two and three on the chart.

The iTunes’ worldwide song chart and the top songs charts of 43 nations around the world were topped by ‘Shut Down’. The album debuted at No. The album was also No. 1 on the Top Albums Charts of the Music Service in 54 Countries, including the US.

The band is preparing for their Born Pink global tour which will start in October.
