‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ star Letitia Wright opens up about traumatic set injury

Letitia Wright recently revealed that she is still healing from a traumatic injury sustained on the Black Panther 2 set.

The actor who plays the late Chadwick Boseman’s onscreen sister Shuri in the MCU films was hospitalized in August 2021.

While shooting a chase sequence, Letitia Wright fell off of a “biscuit rig” riding a motorcycle during a Boston shoot.

Nate Moore, a film producer, is part of Variety’s Wakanda Forever: Black Panther cover story said that the rig “clipped a median and sheared the bike off, and it tumbled”.

The accident caused a fracture to her shoulder and concussion.

“I’m still processing it,’” Wright said recalling the incident, “I’m still working through it in therapy. It was really traumatic.”

The actress was on the Boston set with the film’s second unit crew, when the accident occurred and neither Moore nor director Ryan Coogler was present.

Recalling the call he got of Wright’s accident, he said, “It was about how you can imagine.”

“I mean, I love these actors. That’s me and Chad’s little sister,” he added, “Imagine getting that call that your little sister’s hurt. It’s the fucking worst thing in the world.”

Production on the Black PantherAfter Wright had moved to London from Boston in order to heal, the sequel was closed down in November 2021.

“I had great, great, great medical support, great patience on set,” Wright added, “I’m just extremely proud of myself. I’m extremely proud of Ryan, of the team, for just the resilience”

“When I finished filming, I cried like a little baby,” she concluded.

The film Wakanda Forever: Black PantherIt has been released in theatres.
