It is considered racist and unnecessary to create an award show for Korean artists.

K-Pop fans expressed their dismay online.

Billboards recently announced a new segment to their framed awards show, called The K-Billboard Awards.

On October 24, 2022, sharing the news on their official Instagram account, Billboard wrote, “Introducing ‘THE-K Billboard Awards,’ highlighting the dazzling achievements of K-POP artists based on the Billboard charts.”

“The event will be streamed live on the K-Culture Festival YouTube channel on October 28 at 8 p.m. KST/7 a.m. EST. Make sure you’re subscribed to K-Culture Festival’s YouTube and Instagram channel and get details on all things #KCultureFestival2022 at the link in bio,” the post continued.

The announcement of the forthcoming awards show seemed hopeful but it didn’t go well with the K-Pop fans and made them furious.

The fandom of the South Korean boy band BTS, ARMY is most upset as Billboard aims to find the ‘next BTS’.

Stating the disapproval, a fan wrote, “Hell no they’re afraid from Bangtan. They won the k-billboard awards to keep BTS from winning main awards. Their impact keep threatening them.”

“idk will k billboard awards announce “and the ‘next BTS’ award goes to…” during the ceremony or?” another wrote.

One Twitter user wrote, “Billboard seriously created a K billboard awards……like hello segregation anything to prevent bts from getting their dues and being treated fairly. And ofc this comes when bts are about to enlist like be sooooo fcking serious”
