Bill Clinton: The GOP Will ‘Scare Swing Voters With Living Daylights’

  • Former President Bill Clinton claims Democrats have a chance to hold Congress in 2022.
  • Clinton, however, warned that Republicans would “scare all the living daylights out” of swing voters.
  • Clinton said to CNN that Republicans made critical race theory sound worse in 2021 than smallpox. 

In an interview with Fareed Zakaria, CNN, Bill Clinton stated that Democrats can keep control of Congress in 2022’s midterms but warned that Republicans will “scare swing voters”. 

Zakaria asked Clinton if Democrats, Those who saw encouraging signs regarding their midterm prospectsRecent weeks have seen the end of decades-old trend in which the president’s party lost control of Congress in midterm elections. 

Clinton stated to Zakaria that “absolutely we could hold both of these Houses”, but that she had to be clear in her interview. The interview aired on Sunday. “And we must know that Republicans always close together well. Why? They find a new way to scare swing voters about something. This is what they did in 2021. They made critical race theory sound worse that smallpox.

Clinton stated, “They only scare people.” The breakpoint in American politics doesn’t look that different from the 90s. It’s still possible to reach those people. The problem is that the parties are becoming more ideologically clear and intolerant and thus pulling more people towards extremes. 

 

In the 1990s, Clinton was elected president. This has led to a decrease in persuadable swing votes and fewer people willing to cross party lines. In 2020, there was a record number of people splitting their votes between the elect. Clinton maintained that there are still people trying to think and understand the situation.  

Clinton was also questioned by Zakaria About the recent death Ken Starr.

The hard-charging special prosecution, who died aged 76, diligently investigated Clintons first in Whitewater’s probe into their Arkansas real estate transactions. The investigation then focused on Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky (then White House intern), which was the most scandalous part of his presidency, and ultimately led to his impeachment.

Clinton spoke highly of Starr“But I was taught not to talk about people that I — you know. I have nothing to share. Except that I am glad he passed away with the love and support of his family.”
