Upgrade to one of the top Meta Quest 2 head-strap options for VR. There are more cons to the standard Quest 2 fabric band than pros. Although it’s simple to slip on and off, it absorbs sweat and germs. It does not counterbalance the heavy front design nor add cushioning. Although the Elite Strap can be purchased, it is quite expensive and has suffered from poor durability.
A few third-party straps are available at a fraction of the cost. These straps are great for adding cushioning to your headset and distributing weight more evenly. These products have been tried and tested by me, so I can recommend the best ones for your Quest 2.
These Oculus Quest 2 neck straps will keep your head up with the action
Although halo-style straps don’t always appeal to me, the BoboVR M2 Pro compensates with its stunning design. The magnetic battery packs included with each head strap have a 5,200mAh capacity. Referring to the Quest 2, which has a 3,640mAh internal battery, one BoboVR battery will give you more than twice the battery life when it is plugged into the Quest 2.
You have the option to choose one battery or two, and you can also get a pack with a magnetic charger and two batteries if you intend on playing VR for more than five hours. It doesn’t really matter what size battery you choose, it’s amazing how easy it is just to take off the old one and replace it with a brand new one. When a new battery is added to the magnetic connectors, there’s an audible click. Talk about brilliant design!
You can charge your Quest 2 with the BoboVR M2 Pro headset strap. It’s also very comfortable. If you have ever used a PlayStation VR headset, the halo-style design of this strap is very similar. It places the headset weight on your top and back, with a luxurious forehead pad for weight relief.
BoboVR also placed little pads on top of the headset to help it stay straight and level when playing. With this design, there is no need to adjust the top strap.
However, I have already said that halo-style straps are not my favourite design. If you’re playing games with a lot of movement — especially games that have you tilting your head forward a lot — you’ll probably find that this strap isn’t tight enough for your liking. If your head is any shape other than mine, this is likely. The headset’s FoV is also reduced slightly by my experience. It’s now more apparent that you’re actually looking through two lenses into a VR environment, rather than just fully immersed.
It’s difficult to disagree with the overall design of this strap and its convenience, which makes it one of our top picks.
Although it took KIWI Design a while to get on board with the battery head strap train they did it perfectly. The strap is almost identical to the non-battery version below by KIWI. However, it has a large battery in the back for extended play sessions.
Amprius in the U.S. sourced this battery. It’s a high-quality battery you can trust. The headset is charged twice as fast with this battery than the stock charger. It also has two 3,200mAh batteries in the strap. This doubles the Quest 2’s internal capacity, effectively doubling your battery life.
This allows you to bring your head closer to the headset, and helps increase the FoV. This will give you a wider view of the virtual environment, which is a big advantage. It’s Elite-style and will hug your head even when you play the most active, crazy games.
However, my downside was that the headset’s weight felt very heavy on my cheeks after long sessions. This can be solved by using a thicker face pad. However, it is something you should consider if your VR experience is intense or you are sensitive to the feeling of the headset’s weight on your cheeks. If you are playing for longer than 7 hours, the battery is not modular like BoboVR’s.

KIWI’s Quest2 elite strapTakes design cues form Meta’s failing official Elite Strap and improves it in meaningful ways. First, the KIWI elite strap is stronger than the one made by Meta. Additionally, the plastic is thicker, without feeling heavier, and even the strap itself is a lot thicker. Official Elite strap DurabilityKIWI designed its strap to withstand more tension.
There is plenty of padding at the top, back and sides to help distribute and cushion the headset’s weight. It also helps lower the weight of the cheekbones by reducing the amount of weight that falls on the back. The removable pad on the back is made of the same PU-leather material that many face pads are — including the one above — and can be easily wiped down or swapped out at will. The pad can also be adjusted to fit your preference.
Two main areas allow the KIWI elite strap to be adjusted. First, the wheel at the back adjusts the length of each strap, making it simple to put on or take off. The padded strap at the top allows vertical adjustment of where the pad is located at the back of your skull. This works in conjunction with the middle buckle hinge to make it more suitable for all head shapes and sizes.
It will also be appreciated that there is more space. Quest 2 over-ear headphonesThe default Elite Strap. The hinged design of the Elite Strap allows you to adjust the vertical angle between your eyes, and the Quest 2 lenses.
VR Cover’s canvas strap is a good choice for anyone looking for a replacement strap. It looks very similar to the Oculus stock strap (pictured above). The strap is not a single-use replacement. It has two back straps, which cradle the top and bottom sides of the head. This allows for a better fit and support. A T-strap can be connected with either a long or short strap. This gives people with larger heads an easier option that doesn’t feel tight. It’s a lot more thought-out than the Oculus box.
The VR Cover model is slightly cheaper than other Elite Strap replacements and offers some advantages that an Elite Strap with a more rigid structure will not. One, it will actually fit into most of the Elite Strap replacements. best Oculus Quest 2 casesThe Elite Straps are larger and more difficult to store, so they require special cases. You can slide on your Quest 2 more quickly after you’ve set the proper settings. The Elite Strap and its imitations require you to tighten and loosen the knob each time. It does not add weight to your headset.
The soft canvas Quest 2 Strap won’t have the same firm structure of an Elite. It can also be easily wiped down but will retain sweat instead of repelling it. These are minor issues that shouldn’t deter you from upgrading. Don’t forget the Best Quest 2 VR Cover AccessoriesAll are high-quality and will enhance more than your strap.
Bottom line
The Quest 2’s cloth strap is good enough, but VR gamers who use it a lot will be disappointed. If you are a powerful user of the Quest 2, this is especially true. Quest 2: The bestFor hours on end or just because someone wants to Use a keyboard and mouseVR. The headset is simply too heavy for comfort.
BoboVR M2 Pro is recommended for Quest 2 gamers. The modular battery design allows you to quickly charge your Quest 2 and is unbelievably comfortable. Simply charge the pack with a USB Type C charger, then attach the magnetic attachments to your headset. It’s so easy to use, you’ll be amazed at the lack of official Meta products.
If you prefer Elite-style straps with their tighter fit, KIWI Design makes a fantastic battery head strap. This strap triples the Quest 2’s life and still manages to keep the headset comfortable. You can feel the extra weight of a large battery, especially if your facepad isn’t super cushy.
KIWI Design also offers a battery-free version that is very easy to install. It provides incredible comfort thanks to a bevy of pads all around the strap — all of which are removable and washable — and the double adjustment hinge ensures the strap won’t snap, unlike the official Elite Strap.
Are there head straps that attach to external battery banks?
If you have one of these, The best portable chargers/power banks(opens in a new tabIf you’d rather have a strap that makes use of one of these features, I suggest reconsidering. While it might sound tempting to grab one of the many Quest 2 head straps that allow you to simply slap in a power bank you already own — like the Ahroy elite strap with battery holder pictured above — the quality and overall design of most of these straps is usually pretty bad.
I tried about a dozen different Quest 2 head-straps, each with enough room to fit a battery pack. None of them were very good. They are usually made from cheap, fragile plastic that feels very uncomfortable on the head and won’t hold the Quest 2. A semi-loose powerbank strapped to your head is not a good idea.
While some of the head straps were more effective at holding the battery in place than others, all of them made it seem like the pack could be flung off at any moment. There’s no way to be sure your battery pack will charge the Quest 2 fast sufficient to keep it running for long periods of time.
In my case, I didn’t have any of the Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 and 3.0-compatible battery banks. ChargeWhile I was playing Quest 2, it stopped the Quest 2 from draining as fast. The Quest 2 didn’t drain as fast as normal while I was playing. Thanks to specially designed circuitry, all of the recommended head straps (KIWI and BoboVR) will charge your Quest 2 while you’re playing.
