Benjamin Mendy trial – What we know so far

Since Benjamin Mendy’s death, three weeks had passed Manchester CityChester Crown Court, Defender. He arrived at Chester Crown Court shortly after 9:30 on Monday. A crowd of photographers welcomed him.

France international Mendy (28), is being tried after being Eight counts of rape are being brought against the accusedOne for attempted rape and one for sexual assault against seven females.

In September, he was Not guiltyOne count of rape on Woman Seven was dismissed after the prosecutors said that they did not intend to seek conviction. Mendy denied all other charges.

Louis Saha Matturie was also a co-defendant. He was found not guilty of two counts of rape as well as one count of sexual abuse in relation to the same women. Matturie (41), had previously pleaded guilty to eight counts each of rape and four of sexual assault on eight women.

The trial had to be adjourned twice — leading to a three-week break — because two jury members had fallen ill.

It was resumed on Monday, September 17. Steven Everett, Honorary Recorder for Chester, opened the day by addressing jurors and giving them an overview of the evidence the court had received from the complainants.

Who are the people we have heard so far?

The court has now heard from 10 of the 13 complainants and Woman 11’s evidence began on Monday afternoon.
