Before the transfer announcement, Logan Brown, Wisconsin OT, was dismissed from the team by Leonhard

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin offensive tackle Logan Brown has been dismissed from the program due to “an internal incident,” interim coach Jim Leonhard told reporters Thursday morning. Brown posted Wednesday night a tweet stating that he was entering a transfer portal.

“It was not a choice,” Leonhard said. “He was dismissed from our program.”

Brown refused to comment when he was reached by telephone Thursday morning.

Brown, a member of Wisconsin’s 2019 recruiting class, became the program’s first five-star signee in 12 years. Brown was ranked No. 4 offensive tackle, and the No. 17th overall prospect in the country. A torn labrum in his left arm prevented him from playing his first season. He played 58 snaps in redshirt freshman 2020 and 70 as a reserve in last season.

Brown was in position to earn Wisconsin’s starting right tackle role to open this season but lost the spot to redshirt freshman Riley MahlmanRedshirt sophomore, and then to junior redshirt Trey WedigMahlman was injured. Brown appeared in all six games for Wisconsin this season with three starts — two at right tackle and one at left tackle. He played 18 snaps last Saturday against NorthwesternIn a package as an end-to-end inline blocking tightening.

Leonhard was asked whether he could provide any more information on the situation that led to Brown’s dismissal.

“Not really at this time,” Leonhard said.
