Banksy tells fans to shoplift from a Guess Store

Banksy, anonymous graffiti artist, suggests shoplifters pay a visit at Guess stores in central London. He claims that his designs were not used by the label without his permission.

Friday, he PostedYou can upload a picture to Instagram with the caption: “Attention Shoplifters.” Please visit Guess on Regent’s Street. They have given me my artwork and asked for it, so how is it wrong that you would do the same to their clothes?

Guess what?The collection was legally created through a partnership between Brandalised, an urban graffiti licensing company that aims to provide Banksy fans with affordable graffiti collectibles. 

Guess closed its Regent Street location shortly after Banksy posted and covered up the window display. BBC News reported.

Guess’ Banksy-inspired capsule collection was first advertised by Guess in October.

The collection retails for between $41 to $279. It includes Banksy’s Thug for Life bunny as well as Livin’ The Dream Mickey Mouse. This billboard was first seen on Sunset Boulevard.

It is not clear if Banksy approved Brandalised’s deal with Guess. Some speculate that the shoplifting call he made could have been part of a guerrilla campaign to market Guess’s product. BBC.

Insider asked Brandalised, Guess and Banksy for their comments but they didn’t immediately respond.
