Baltimore dad pleads to soft-on-crime authorities to keep his son locked up: ‘Beging for help’

Baltimore fatherHe made an emotional plea for his son’s release, calling out the city’s criminal justice system. 

Santiago Garcia-Diaz joined “Fox & Friends First” Tuesday to discuss why he wants his son behind bars and his appeal to prosecutors, who now want to charge him with neglect, if he refuses to pick up his son from jail. 

Garcia-Diaz said, “I’ve been beg for help for our child for two years.” co-host Todd Piro.“I have petitions signed by judges for him to be sent away for mental evaluation[uation]. I don’t know what else to do. I tried everything. I’m at the end of my wit… What else does a father do to save his child’s life?”

“He’s running in the wrong crowd,” he said. “I live in a dangerous area… in Baltimore… What else should I do?”

Garcia-Diaz was 15 years old when his son Bryce Garcia Diaz was arrested. He had 18 of 19 charges dropped against him. He is accused of Running over a police officerCrumbling a stolen vehicle.

Garcia-Diaz is concerned that his son might not return home one day. This is based on the journey he has taken. 

Garcia-Diaz stated that the last time he vanished for more than a week, he returned home. We had to rush to the hospital to get him checked out. They said they wouldn’t have brought he in because he would have died.

He continued, “My son was born with chronic lung disease. He doesn’t get full expulsion of his lungs. He smoked weed and cigarettes all the time. It had gotten so bad that it made it impossible to breathe.” 

Juvenile crimes have soaredThere are many major cities across the country, including Baltimore, where carjackings are a common offense. 

Garcia-Diaz believes that changes to Baltimore law have allowed minors to avoid accountability for their actions. 

Garcia-Diaz stated that as of June 1, they had changed the laws regarding the juvenile justice system so that they could only be charged for certain crimes at specific times. They also had to go through so many steps to make any move to actually do anything against the child. “It’s ridiculous.”

Children below 10 years old are included in the list. It cannot be chargedMinors aged under 18 can have their identity protected as with any crime.
