Bali launches Visa for Wealthy Tourists. Stay for 10 Years

  • Indonesia introduces a new visa to attract wealthy foreigners.

A new visa is being introduced in Indonesia to attract wealthy foreigners and boost the country’s economy.

In an effort to attract tourists for longer stays, the country will be focusing on Bali, its capital. The new visa “second home”, which is valid for five to 10 years, will become effective December 25, 2012. Press release

The applicant must have the ability to bring at most two billion Indonesian rupees (around $130,000) along with them. Additionally, the funds must go into Indonesian state-owned banks.

“The goal of this visa is to attract foreign tourists,” Widodo Ekatjahjana, acting Director General of Immigration, stated at Tuesday’s launch.

The press release continued that the visa was intended to attract people who can “contribute positively towards the Indonesian economic.”

This move follows New Zealand and others. Portugal,They have just introduced “digital nomad visas” which are designed to help remote workers, who wish to travel abroad following the outbreak of the pandemic.
