New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones’ return against the BearsOn Monday night, the celebration was short-lived.
New England’s starter, who missed the last three games with an ankle injury, went 3-for-6 for 13 yards and an interception on the Patriots’ first three drives before being replaced by backup Bailey Zappe.
Zappe then led a scoring drive of four plays and threw an interception pass for 30 yards to Jakobi Meyers.

Zappe, the team’s 2022 fourth-round draft pick, has played well in Jones’ absence. Both Zappe’s games were won by the Patriots, beating Detroit and Cleveland convincingly in Week 5And 6, respectively.
Zappe was able to complete 72.9 percent of his passes within three games, with 596 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 111.4. Zappe came in for Brian Hoyer in Week 4 after Hoyer sustained a concussion.
