As the number of Cubans increases, fewer Venezuelans attempt to illegally cross into the US.

The United States stopped more than 230,000 migrants crossing the Mexican border in October. This is the third highest month of Joe Biden’s presidency. There are growing numbers from Cuban, Nicaragua and Colombia.

Fewer VenezuelansThe changes were made by the Biden administration on Oct. 12, when new asylum restrictions were implemented. However, the decline was more than offset by the increasing number of arrivals from other nations, according to figures released late Monday.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, authorities stopped migrants 230678 times in October, an increase of 1.4% over 227,547 in September and highest since May.

Venezuelans lost their second-largest nation to Cubans. MexicansThe largest flight from the Caribbean island of Jamaica to the United States has been made since the Mariel boatlift was established in 1980.

Cubans were stopped 28,848 more times than in September. This is an increase of 10%. They are a major concern to U.S. officials. On Monday, they arrived in Havana for talks on migration.

Venezuelans were the third largest nationality, although flows declined after Oct. 12, which was when Mexico accepted Venezuelans. You can’t enter the U.S. illegallyTrump-era rule denies asylum rights for those who seek asylum because they are preventing the spread of COVID-19. CBP stated that Venezuelan arrivals have fallen to 300 per day since October, from 1,100 in the previous restrictions.

Nicaraguans were fourth in terms of nationality, just behind Venezuelans. They were stopped 20,917 time, an increase 15% over September.

Troy Miller, CBP’s acting commissioner, said that the number of asylum seekers fleeing Nicaraguan and Cuban regimes is at an all-time high. This reflects the challenges facing the hemisphere as displaced people flee violence, corruption and authoritarianism.

There were fewer migrants from Guatemalan and Honduras — countries that have historically sent large numbers — but more came from other parts of the world.

Colombians were stopped 17195 times, which is 25% more than September’s. The Russians were stopped 3,879 more times during the conflict in Ukraine than September, an increase 48%.

Title 42, the pandemic-related asylum ban, saw nearly 80,000 migrants expelled in October. This brings total expulsions to over 2.4 million since March 2000. Mexico has accepted the majority of these nationalities. Mexico also admits Hondurans, Guatemalans, El Salvadorans, and, most recently Venezuelans.
