Arizona rescue divers find body of missing swimmer from California who jumped off a boat

Arizona rescue diversAuthorities have recovered the body and remains of a man from California who disappeared Saturday after jumping into Lake Havasu. He never returned to surface, authorities stated Sunday.

Responding officers immediately deployed divers in the water, but the searchers couldn’t locate the victim. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials described conditions as being difficult, with winds gusting to 40 mph and waves up to three feet high. Divers encountered almost zero visibility underwater due to large trees on the lake’s bottom. 

Rescue crews used a helicopter to scan the water’s surface and shoreline but still did not find the victim.

Searchers located the victim’s body at 11:15 a.m. under approximately 32 feet of water, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities have identified the victim to be Michael Dean Phan (47 years old), of Garden Grove, California. 

The body was given over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office, which will perform an autopsy to Find out the cause of death.
