According to an analyst who has a track record of accurately predicting Apple’s future, Apple will unveil a new external display within the first three months in 2023.
Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants sent a tweet to his super-followers on Thursday (via MacRumors) that Apple had again “pushed” the launch of the product, which he had previously ClaimWWDC will host the launch, which will take place in June 2022. The launch will be repeated in October 2022. Young stated that the launch will take place in Q1-2023.
There are various definitions of Q1 (Apple’s last FiscalQ1 was from September 26 through January 1, but MacRumors interprets this as the first CalendarQuarter of 2023 means any time between January and February or March. Apple tends not to launch much in the first two months of the year, so a March unveiling seems the most likely outcome–unless it’s pushed back yet again.
It is believed to be a 5K 27 inch model that uses mini-LED. It will support Apple’s ProMotion tech, which dynamically adjusts refresh rate depending on context, and can rise as high as 120Hz.
Prices are similar to the Apple Studio DisplayThe current starting price for the XDR is $1,599. The new display won’t replace the larger and far more expensive 6K Pro Display XDR.
