Apple just launched the 10th generation iPad, its newest member of their iPad family, today. However, there are reports that Apple is working on a new model. According to Wayne Ma at The InformationApple may soon release a 16-inch iPad in time for the holidays.
No other information is available–cost, specs, features–but some inferences can be drawn. The display of such a device would be just as large as that on the 16-inch MacBook Pro. This device is intended for digital artists and content creators who require a larger work surface. It would likely have a larger version of Apple’s mini-LED XDR display in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as well as ProMotion.
The larger size and battery make it possible to include an M2 Pro (or M3) chip instead of the M2 (or even M3). Certainly, this would be Apple’s most expensive iPad and would require all-new accessories like cases, covers, and keyboards, which would also likely share a higher price. It seems reasonable to start at $1,499, but accessories will push it over $2,000.
The iPad Pro hasn’t had a redesign since 2018 when Apple added Face ID and support for the second-generation Apple Pencil. In 2020 (A12Z), 2021 (20M1) and 2022 (20M2), there have been minor changes.
Previous reportsApple may release a 14.1 inch iPad Pro in 2023, it was claimed. It’s unclear if Apple is simply weighing its size options here, or will actually bring TwoApple will release iPads that are larger than the 12.9-inch model next year. Apple may be working on another rumor. a “lite” version of macOS for the M2-based iPad Pro, so 2023 could be a watershed year for Apple’s professional tablet line.
