Andy Robertson has joked his half-time talk with ‘angry’ Darwin Nunez inspired the Liverpool striker to score.

“I was sitting next to him in the changing room, I don’t know if he understood what I said but I said I’ll put a cross in and you will score no problem.

“Maybe I need to say that more often!

His chat clearly did the trick, as Nunez scored just four minutes after the break with a thumping header after getting on the end of Robertson’s corner.

Nunez was also thrilled to see Robertson celebrate his goal.

“We scored really wonderful goals,” manager Jurgen Klopp said afterwards. “The first goal, the pass by Hendo [Jordan Henderson, for Mohamed Salah] was exceptional, the second goal was a great cross and Darwin takes on pretty much everybody, and then Harvey crowned his really good performance with a sensational finish.”

Nunez, who arrived from Benfica this summer, has contributed six goals to 13 of all competitions since then.
