Andy Murray would love for Ally McCoist to join him at dinner, as the Rangers legend turns 60

September 24 marks Ally McCoist’s big 60th birthday, and it appears he’s going to have a lovely time out celebrating with fellow Scottish legend Andy Murray.

But another icon north of the border will not be joining them, and that is Mr Alan Bernard Brazil – sorry Al!

Be careful, Sir Andy, because we’re quite sure Mr McCoist will take you up on your offer, and it could cost you an arm and a leg!

Now, we’re not sure where this apparent feud started, because Al insists he has only been complimentary of the three-time Grand Slam winning tennis great.

But it’s probably quite likely that he’s just forgotten, as Sir Andy can remember quite clearly at least one time the talkSPORT host ‘slagged him off’ on air.

And now it’s cost him a spot in what sounds like a right good Scottish tear up – if Ally has anything to say about it, that is.

We caught up with Murray at the launch of this weekend’s Laver Cup tournament at the O2 Arena in London, which saw Roger Federer makes a sad final appearance as a professional. as he said farewell to tennis as one of the game’s all-time greats.

When asked if he would send a message to the birthday boy, he obliged.

“Happy birthday, Ally – I hope you have a great day,” said two-time Wimbledon champion Murray.

Murray had something to say about talkSPORT legend Alan Brazil…

“I’d love to go out to dinner with him. Maybe not this Saturday… I’ve sort of got plans!”

Muzza was then asked if fellow Scot Alan Brazil could join them, but he didn’t seem too enthusiastic about the TalkSPORT BreakfastLegend playing third-wheel

“Would Alan Brazil even like to go to dinner with me? I’ve only heard him slagging me off on the radio!”

We all know Big Al was never going to let that one go, and he couldn’t resist responding after hearing what Andy had to say live from the Laver Cup.

The former striker said: “Andy’s got selective hearing! He does!

“I have shouted him on in most [most?] tournaments, big tournaments he’s played in, but he obviously wasnae listening!

“And don’t give me you’re a Hibs fan, by the way, you were at Ibrox the other day! Don’t give me that! If he supports Hibs, my name’s Argentina.

“Let me tell you, Andy would have won a lot more if it hadn’t been some of the greatest ever around him. If he was in a different era, he’d have about 15 Grand Slams.”

It appears a little too late for the charm offensive, Alan…

Ally added with a laugh: “The bottom line is that it’s a table for two for me and Andy – Brazil ain’t coming!”

To which Brazil retorted: “I’ll get you a decent bottle of wine.”

But Big Al wasn’t done there…

“I’ll be taking Andy up on that offer,” continued McCoist. “The only thing I would say is that I would advise him very strongly to bring that Wimbledon winners’ cheque with him, because I’m capable of blowing that on a starter!

“And I’ll make sure I say some good things about you, Al.”

Brazil replied: “I don’t need you to! I’m not apologising, no chance!

“I cheer him on all the time! He should actually be apologising to him! I’ve backed you to the hilt!

“I used to have rows with The Moose about him! The Moose said, ‘He’s no good, he’ll never win a major’. I said, ‘You wanna bet? He will, no matter about that’.

“But anyway, happy birthday you old git, and see you later Andy!”

Don’t expect your invite anytime soon, Al!
