An ex-DHS official says Biden is unfairly viewed as a ‘lax’ border issuer

  • In protest of Biden’s immigration policies, GOP governors have sent migrants to eastern cities.
  • Biden’s administration, according to the lawmakers, isn’t doing enough on the border.
  • Jeh Johnson, former DHS Secretary, said that it was unfair to claim the Biden administration is “lax” on immigration.

Jeh Johnson, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary, said that President Joe Biden’s government is being unfairly viewed as being “lax on immigration.”

“I believe this administration is unfairly perceived as being lax in border enforcement. We actually send back over 100,000 people per month. This is the same amount we have done for the last two decades, which has been over 2,000,000 people. Johnson shared his management lesson in managing this issue: “You have to repeat yourself 25 times before anyone will listen to your story.” Johnson stated in an interview. Margaret Brennan is the host of CBS’s Face the Nation.Sunday

Former Obama administration official stated that, despite the criticisms from GOP governors about Biden’s immigration policy, his administration has been sending people to the border. He advised the current administration “continually stress that, in fact we are, with the machinery government about as quickly as we possibly can.”

Johnson said that border security is much more challenging since Johnson served as DHS Secretary 8 years ago.

“We dealt primarily with the Northern Triangle countries Guatemalan, Honduras and El Salvador. This problem is now a hemispheric issue. Johnson explained that you also have Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela, which are not cooperating.

He made these remarks as several GOP governors started sending migrants to northern US towns. Last week Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flew 50 migrants in his plane from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard.Over the last few weeks, Texas Governor. Greg Abbott has sent approximately 8,000 migrants to Washington D.C. These moves were attempts to protest Biden’s immigration policy.Johnson called the migration efforts of migrant workers a “political stunt”.

Johnson said, “Well there’s a correct way and a wrong, Margaret.” “The wrong way to send people to Edgartown Airport by bus or plane is to give them 20 minutes notice,” Johnson said. He said, “What the governors in Florida and Texas are doing is, frankly, a political stunt. They treat people like cattle.”
