Aminata Diallo is re-arrested because of links to attack against ex-PSG teammate

Aminata, a former Paris Saint-Germain Women Midfielder, was re-arrested after links to an attack against one of her team-mates.

Last November, former PSG team-mate Kheira Hamraoui was dragged from a car by two masked men and beaten on the legs with an iron bar as she returned home from a team meal in a car driven by Diallo.

Diallo, 27 years old, was taken into custody after the incident. However, he was released on bail and has repeatedly denied any involvement.

She is currently being investigated for serious bodily injury and is currently being held in temporary detention while she awaits a hearing regarding pretrial detention.

Four other suspects have been placed under investigation linked to the incident, the prosecutor’s office said.

The Versailles police prosecutor’s office said on Friday: “All four alleged Diallo was the instigator of the assault, in order to allow her to be given the place of the victim (in the PSG team) in future games.”

Hamraoui, 32 years old, needed stitches in her legs and arms after she was taken to the hospital. She was back in action earlier this year. Although she is still contracted at the French club, she has not played so far this season.

She said in a statement on Saturday: “After very long months of suffering, I have decided to come out of silence. This evening, November 4, 2021, will remain in my heart forever. Her presence haunts me day and night. It was that dark evening that changed everything about my professional, personal and football life.

“That sad evening when I thought I was dying when two men forced me out of a vehicle. They threw iron bars at my body, mainly aiming at my lower bodies. Their goal was to end my career and remove my work tool, my legs, with extreme violence that night.

“Following this oh how traumatic experience that turned into an absolute injustice, I fell victim to a surprising media cabal aimed at tarnishing my image and privacy. This was done in order to conceal the truth. It is unlikely that I am guilty except for the fact that I wallowing in my modesty. For allowing the media to create a buzz about unheard of violence, which destroyed me and my family.

“For very long months after my assault, I was unjustly insulted on the field, harassed on social media and death threats. I tried to keep my passion alive and to remain professional. This is definitely one of my most difficult times as a female athlete and top-notch woman. I am not able to participate in the French team’s adventure, which is so important for me. Today I trust justice to bring the truth out and to wash my honour.

“I can’t wait for my name to only be associated with sports pages again and not court topics.”

After her contract expired, Diallo quit PSG at the conclusion of last season.
