Amick: Warriors have Jordan Poole to thank for having a chance to recover from Draymond Green-caused ‘crisis’

SAN FRANCISCO — If Golden State somehow pulls this off, winning a fifth title in nine years after enduring the Draymond Green-caused “crisis” that coach Steve Kerr deemed the worst of this dynasty era, they may as well put a statue of Jordan PooleStanding in front the Chase Center with the other Warriors greats. At the very least, be sure to write a massive championship bonus into the 23-year-old’s extension that could be agreed upon any day now.

He’s the only reason their title defense isn’t in tatters right now.

Just eight days have passed since Poole was leveled by Green’s devastating right-hand punch at practice, and here they are picking up the pieces again. Green is expected to be back in practice on Thursday and will likely take part in the preseason finale. DenverThis was after Poole was ordered to leave the team and receive an undisclosed penalty. And while Poole has yet to speak publicly since the incident, Kerr made it quite clear on Tuesday night that his words and deeds behind the scenes have everything to do with the Warriors’ choice to try to move forward here.

They should.

“Well, I will let Jordan speak for himself when he speaks to you guys, which I think will be soon, but what I will say (about) my observation of Jordan is that he’s an incredibly mature young guy,” Kerr said when I asked him about Poole’s part in the healing process.
