Americans should flee Russia immediately. They could be conscripted.

Moscow is home to the U.S. Embassy All Americans in Russia were urged to do so to flee the nation following President Vladimir Putin’s “partial mobilization” decree last week.

“Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, deny their access to U.S. consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service,” the embassy warned Tuesday.

RUSSIA’S BORDERS VIEW DEPESTATION AS DRAFT-ELIGIBLE MEN FLEE

The embassy stated that it was already becoming more difficult to leave Russia due to the limited number of commercial flights and the crowded border control points.

The statement by the Embassy stated that Russian citizens and tourists should leave Russia as soon as possible, adding that there are limited commercial travel options.

Putin’s decree to mobilize300,000 soldiers sent to the front in the war against Ukraine have reportedly led to hundreds and thousands of Russian conscripts trying to flee Russia.

Photos of packed airports have been shared on social media. Officials at the Finnish border checkpointReports have indicated that thousands of cars jammed the highways as Russians, mostly fighting-age men, seek to flee Putin’s rule.

Russian men have reported flooded into Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia as other European nations have blocked their borders to Russian citizens. 

Tuesday’s White House statement stated that Russia will accept refugees from Russia who want to forgo the conflict in Ukraine. 

Over a five-day period after Putin announced the mobilization on Sept. 21 some 261,000 men had already fled Russia according to Novaya Gazeta Europe Monday.

The Russian Embassy warned Americans living in Russia that the State Department is limited in its ability to help, especially as tensions between Moscow, Washington continue to escalate.

The State Department also warned Americans not to travel to Russia or through Russia during this time.
