The US Embassy in Moscow issued a new security alert warning Americans not to travel to Russia. They also urged anyone living in Russia or traveling to the country to leave immediately.
The security alert stated that the Russian government had begun mobilizing its citizens to support the invasion of Ukraine on September 21st. Russia could refuse to recognize dual-nationals’ US citizenship, deny them access to US consular aid, prevent their departure to Russia, and conscript dual national citizens for military service.
The alert stated that if you want to leave Russia, you need to make separate arrangements as soon as you can.
According to the embassy, it is facing “severe limitations” in its ability assist Americans. This means that transportation options “may suddenly become more limited.”
