American Airlines bans man for life from assaulting flight attendant; FBI investigates

On Wednesday night, a violent passenger was taken into custody Afflicting violence on a flight attendantWhile traveling on an American Airlines flight from Cabo to Los Angeles International Airport.

The flight took off from Los Cabos International Airport. San José del Cabo, Mexico en route to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Circulating footage shows the flight attendant running away from the suspect as the flight was in mid-air. 

After the employee has turned his back, the attacker runs up to him and punches him in the back.  The suspect then runs around the room erratically before returning to his chair. 

Authorities arrested the suspect after the plane landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Federal Bureau of InvestigationThe assault is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The identity of the suspect has not been revealed.

American Airlines issued a statement to Fox News Digital confirming the incident.  The airline stated that violence against members of the team “is not tolerated” so that the passenger would be barred from future AA flights.

The statement stated that the incident victim would not be allowed to travel with the police in the future and that they will cooperate with law enforcement during their investigation.

American Airlines said the violent passenger was banned from all AA flights for life after the assault.

“Our thoughts are with the flight attendant who is in serious condition, and we are supporting them and their fellow crew members.” The spokesperson continued.

American Airlines thanked their crew for their professionalism and quick response.

Because the assault took place in the air, the incident is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
