Already sold 90% of 2022 Qatar World Cup Tickets

Nearly 2.9million tickets were sold. The World CupFIFA and organizers announced Monday that Qatar had approximately 7% remaining seats.

Top of the list for international ticket buyers were people living in the United States and Saudi Arabia. MexicoQatar was the largest market for corporate hospitality sales.

More tickets will become available before the tournament starts on Nov. 20, FIFA’s tournament director Colin Smith said at a news conference in Doha held with Qatari organizers.

Tickets are often available late due to stakeholders like sponsors and FIFA member countries returning them from their respective quotas.

Qatar is expected to host 1.2 million international visitors over the course of the 29-day event. Additional accommodation has been added in order not to run out of rooms in the tiny emirate.

Qatari officials said 2 million separate room nights have already been sold to fans — in hotels, apartments, cruise ships and some camping sites — with 30,000 room options now added to the capacity.

Yasir Al Jamal, director general of Qatari organizing committee, stated that the new rooms have a capacity of approximately 1 million nightly.

The hiring of a third, 1,075-cabin ship cruise to dock in Doha port was an additional step that added capacity. Prices for each night started at $470 during the initial two weeks, when all 32 teams participated.

Although 420,000 people applied worldwide to volunteer for the tournament, QatarAccording to organizers, only 20,000 were chosen. The total 11%, or approximately 2,200 people, who will be coming from overseas, and the 89% from Qatar, will make up the remaining 89%.

Organisers stated that a new innovation in this World Cup will be a central location for consular services with 45 nations represented by their Embassy staff in an exhibition hall in downtown West Bay.
