AirTag Led Police To A Dumpster Filled with Stolen Democratic Signs

  • An AirTag led police into a dumpster containing more than 100 stolen campaign signs.

According to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, an AirTag led police into a dumpster containing more than 100 stolen Democratic campaign posters in Philadelphia. 

In a Press releaseAccording to the police, there were many reports that community members had stolen political signs between Oct. 10 and Oct. 13. 

Police stated that the person who stole their signs said they had found a commercial dumpster behind Valley Fair Shopping Center with more than 100 signs. The name of the resident that attached the AirTag on the campaign sign was not disclosed by the department. 

AirTagsThey are an accessory for tracking that allows users to find the AirTag attached to them by integrating with Apple’s “Find My” app.

Enforcement of the law TelledBuzzFeed News stated that the political signs were to support Democratic candidates or causes, such as Black Lives Matter and reproductive issues. Sandy Gilson, a Tredyffrin Township resident, noticed four signs and one for the Democratic Senate Candidate. John FettermanThese were missing. 

Gilson’s friend Arlene Talley told BuzzFeed News that she was a Chester County Democratic Committee member and showed up at the dumpster to find 118 signs after Gilson had told her. 

Talley explained to BuzzFeed that she had just begun taking out the mushrooms and putting them in her car.

Melissa Shusterman, Pennsylvania state representative, tweeted that her signs had been taken and blamed “local Republicans” for their theft.

Raffi Terzian (chairman of the Republican Party of Chester Country) issued a statement to respond to Shusterman’s allegations. He said it was regrettable that Shusterman “decided” to “try to score political points by this.” Issue by using divisive and highly charged rhetoric, and pointing fingers at local Republicans.”

Terzian condemned the thefts, and said that signs had been vandalized or gone missing from the Republican party’s premises. 

According to the police, they do not have any suspects at the moment.

The Apple AirTag can be used to track campaign signs. In April, a Florida candidate used it. AirTagTo track down a stolen campaign sign that was found in a Jeep parked near the home of his political opponent.

Insider reached out to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, and Shusterman representatives, but they did not respond.
