Nike’s highly anticipated new product is the target of thousands of sneakerheads. Air Jordan 1 Chicago “Lost and Found.”They are furious that the app glitches and app outages prevented them from grabbing the shoes.
Many frustrated collectors took to Twitter Saturday to vent their frustration over technical issues with Nike’s SNKRS App that prevented them from being entered into a drawing to win the sneakers. Many compared the botched sneaker release to the “The Last Ship”. Chaos around the Ticketmaster sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour earlier this week, in which fans waited hours in online queues and similarly experienced website crashes.
While the sneakers — one of Nike’s most iconic models, re-released in red and white Chicago Bulls colors — were expected to sell out within minutes, the glitches mark the latest in a series of frustrations for collectors and Nike fans.
Nike also seems to have failed in its efforts to improve the product. Democratize the process.Nike doubled down its efforts to make the Air Jordan 1s more fair by offering top fans early access, increasing the number to 500,000 and announcing plans for cracking down on resellers and bots.
Many sneakerheads received error messages and app crashes instead when they tried to log in on Saturday.
Insider asked Nike for comment, but it did not respond immediately.
