Shena loves to look at the blueberry fields surrounding the highway on her way to work. Closer to the highway, she often sees garbage bags and sometimes, coyotes wandering around the neighborhood.
But one day, Shena, who asked that her last name not be used, saw what she subsequently described as a “black bag of garbage” that seemed very strange.
Just as she was about driving, her instincts told her to turn around. While walking down the busy road, she came across a huge black dog hidden among the blueberry bushes. The dog was completely alone.
Shena admitted to The Dodo, “I was shocked. I felt utter relief as soon as my eyes opened.
Shena approached the dog cautiously to try and calm it down. She tried to yell at the dog, but highway traffic was too loud to hear. Shena noticed that the dog seemed to be in pain because one of her legs was at an unusual angle. Shena was conscious that she needed to get help as soon as possible. However, the anxious dog, who is wary of strangers began to flee.
Shena recalled, “At one point I lost sight of her and I was quite worried and started screaming.” “I was concerned that if I lost her, she would be abandoned and terrified. I started to jog alongside the blueberry fields, scanning each row.
Shena found her again after what seemed like an eternity. Shena took out a fanny bag from her car and made a leash using the strap. She approached the dog with caution and was able to get her attention.
Shena said, “My heart exploded with ecstasy.” “I was so ecstatic that I would be able to assist her,” I said.
Shena brought the dog with her to RAPS Animal Hospital. The broken leg was then treated by the vets. Shena gave Blueberry the name Blueberry as a tribute to their first meeting. She knew that she wouldn’t be able give up her best friend so quickly.

Blueberry is now a cuddly comedian and has a new outlook on life.
Shena remarked, “She is also an utter ham and can be extremely entertaining. When she’s enthusiastic, she makes absurdly comical gremlin noises. She loves to please others. She does everything she can to please people.
Shena is so happy that she stopped driving because it saved a life and allowed her to make a new best friend.
Shena noted that dogs and other animals can be amazing and loving if they are treated with kindness, compassion, respect, love, respect and compassion. I’m really glad we ran into each other.
