Manchester City could be without star striker Erling Haland this weekend, as they face Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
Haaland was substituted during Man City’s 0-0 draw with his former club Borussia Dortmund in midweek due to a knock and illness.
Pep Guardiola, the manager, confirmed that he had to pull the 22-year old from the match. Joao Cancelo was also pulled at half-time during the Champions League tie.
He said: “Erling had a bit of fever before the game, Joao as well. Joao was tired as well. That’s why we change it. We had a lot of difficulties during that period.
“Three things: I saw him so tired. The second was that he had a little fever, just like Joao. He had a knock in the feet on the third. That is why he wasn’t able to play in the second half.”
Guardiola also gave an update on how serious Haaland’s injury could be.
“I don’t know right now,” the Man City boss said. “I spoke with [the medical staff]They were slightly concerned at half-time, but I noticed him walking more or less normal.
“We will see.”
Footage after the game showed the Norweigan limping when he returned home to Manchester ahead of Saturday’s game.
Haaland, who has scored 17 goals in just 11 Premier League fixtures this season, is now the most fearful man in the top flight.
However, his chances to add to that amazing total could be put on hold if he is injured enough to miss this weekend.
Guardiola will address media today, and is expected to give more information about the situation.
