After her family abandoned her, the dog waited on train tracks for weeks.

Ribbles was left to choose between two options when her Southern California railroad owners left her. Although the brave pup was left to care for herself, she hoped that her family would be able to find her.

So she sat down and waited.

A kind stranger spotted the dog fleeing from a speeding train, and decided to intervene.

“She tried to catch her, but the dog was way too skittish,” Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy rescue said. “That’s when she called me for help.”

Hall arrived at the scene to find the dog just as the kind neighbor had found her. It was not secure.

“The train must’ve come five times while I was there,” according to Hall. “Every time it came, she would run into that little hole.”

Hall found out that the hole was taken to a nearby dealership. The employees at the dealership said that they would provide food for Ribbles, and she could spend the night there.

To Hall’s amazement, the dealership permitted her to set up a trap on their premises. After setting up the trap, she turned her back to the dog to comfort her.

“I put her food down and started talking to her,” Hall said. “I said to her, ‘This is where your food is tonight.’”

Ribbles refused to enter the trap with Hall. The savior left and returned the next day to find something that looked similar to Ribbles on tracks.

Hall remarked, “I thought it was her again. But it was a pack of coyotes scavenging for food.”

Hall moved towards the trap out fear for the puppy. She was able to retrieve Ribbles and take her to the doctor because she was secure inside, go to Hall’s relief.

“I’m working on finding her a foster family because she needs a home to decompress,” Hall said. “That’s the most important thing right now.”

Hall is still searching for Ribbles’ ideal foster home, but she cannot help but be struck by how courageous the tiny dog genuinely is.

“From the trains to the coyotes, she somehow knew what to do to stay safe. She’s a total survivor,” Hall said.
