After finding a strange furlump under a tree, a woman makes an important decision that will save her life

Petey was hiding under a tree when a Good Samaritan found him. The scared dog found refuge in peace with only a few people.

To track down the dog’s owners, the woman shared a picture of the dog on social media taken from a distance not to scare him. Instead of trying to find his parents, the woman found someone who could help him.

Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy rescue, was struck by Petey’s diminutive size when she first saw photographs of him lying beneath a huge tree.

She ran quickly to save him when she realized how many coyotes lived in the area.

“When I got there, he was sitting under the tree and looking out at the road,” according to Hall. “It seemed like he was looking for his person.”

Hall tried to approach the dog but he quickly fled to an unreachable area. Then, as the sun began to drop, Hall’s worst worries came true.

“I could see the glowing eyes of coyotes in the field,” claimed Hall. “They were everywhere.”

Hall knew that time was critical and had to get on top of it quickly. After placing two traps on opposite sides of the field, Hall searched for a hiding place so that she could keep an eye on the dog.

Soon, the dog began to circle the traps in search of the rewards. After a while, he was finally secure.

“I was so happy when I heard my trap shut,” Hall remarked. “If he had gone back out again, who knows what would’ve happened? ”

Hall gave the dog food after he was caught in the trap. She then put him in her van. The dog quickly ate the kibble, then went to sleep.

Hall decided that it was too late to go to the veterinarian so she stayed in her van overnight with Petey until the facility reopened the next morning. She was amazed at how quickly Petey warmed to her even though he was lonely.

“We slept in my car together that night, and he was so cuddly,” Hall said. “He was a total lovebug.”

Petey had to take care of himself out in the open, but Hall was able to retrieve him. After arriving at the veterinary hospital, he needed only a bath and several rounds of vaccinations. After that, he was ready to be placed into foster care.

Petey will still be in foster care and will enjoy cuddling with his foster mom and new foster siblings. His foster mother is still looking for a permanent home but he is in love with his current caregiver.

“His foster mom says that he’s such a doll,” Hall said. “And he totally loves her, too.”
