After dominant win over Bears Mike White sparks Jets QB controversy

The New York JetsMike White was selected over Zach Wilson, the second overall pick. White is now heading into this week’s game against the Chicago Bears. After White put on a great performance at MetLife Stadium, the result at One Jets Drive is an official quarterback controversy. White won 31-10.

White was poised, confident, and efficient with every throw. He threw 315 yards and three passing touchdowns, on 22 of 28, to complete a turnaround in an offense that had struggled last week in New England.

White was most effective in the first quarter, rushing for 235 yards with two touchdowns and pouring rain onto the MetLife turf.

Garrett Wilson, the 10th overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, scored the first two touchdowns for White after hauling in an eight-yard, wide open pass on the opening drive followed by a 54-yard dusting of the Bears’ defense to make it 14-10.

Robert Saleh, the head coach, stated that “He made it easy to look easy” after the game via NFL Network.

Wilson was the Jets leading receiver with 95 yards on five receptions (eight targets), while Elijah Moore had an interesting year with the Jets. He scored his first touchdown with the team on a 22-yard pass from White in the second quarter. White has played five games with Moore and the second-round selection from Ole Miss has scored in all but four.

It was a completely different situation for the quarterback on the other sideline. Justin FieldsDespite Chicago’s continued loss, Siemian, who had been cooking for the last few weeks, was out with an injury to his shoulder. Trevor Siemian was then able to start. However, Nathan Peterman was close by as reports emerged that Siemian had injured his oblique during warmups prior to the game.

Siemian would put on his helmet as he headed out for the Bears’ first drive that ended with a field goal. Siemian found Byron Pringle, a four yard pass that gave the Bears a 10-7 lead.

But the Jets’ defense didn’t allow anything else to go on the Bears’ side of the scoreboard. Siemian was pressured by the Jets, who got him to throw an intercept in the second half. He was also sack twice. He completed 14 of 25 for 173 yards.

The Jets rookie Zonovan knight led the way in the run game. He ran for 69 yards and had 14 carries. It was quite a surprise. He also received three passes for 34 yards.

Ty Johnson ran for New York with 62 yards on five runs. Michael Carter was 21 yards long on six runs with two catches of 15 yards.

David Montgomery was the Bears’ mainstay, with Khalil Henderst still on the IR. He ran 14 times for 79 yards.

With the win, the Jets improve to 7-4 and White most certainly will be in the conversation to start next week against the Minnesota Vikings on the road as playoffs are still in New York’s sights.
