Accessibility issues with Sonic Frontiers can be fixed by a simple workaround

I was once more betrayed by my own eyes.

You may not know it, but I have some colorblindness. I actually This was learned from video games, and gaming is where it’s been the most problematic in my life. I can confuse certain shades of red, green and brown with orange and it can cause them to blend together.

Sonic Frontiers, a game I don’t love but You have continued to play regardlessFor some reason, this is the latest example. Let’s dig in.

Koco chaos

One of the “innovations”, that FrontiersSonic now has upgradeable stats, which is a big plus for the long-running franchise. Specifically, everyone’s favorite hasty hedgehog can upgrade his max speed and max ring capacity if you collect enough goofy little guys called Kocos. These Kocos can be small and vary in color from brown to beige. They can be found all over the globe. Sonic FrontiersThe player will find them as they race around the surroundings.

This is because the environments are almost entirely green or brown. Kocos also don’t have any kind of highlight around them, or any other method of contrasting them with the terrain. This is the problem, right?

I find it hard to believe that Sonic was surrounded by such a large group of Kocos.

This is doubly worrying because Sonic FrontiersThis game is about moving quickly. Ideally, you don’t have to spend a lot of time stopping to look around and smell the roses. However, that’s the only way for me (and anyone else who might encounter this problem) to identify Kocos at all. They only became apparent to me after I stopped running and looked at the TV.

The net result was that my max speed, ring capacity, and attack stats were lower than the others. You can upgrade them by purchasing more items. MuchIt is easier for me to see.

This seems to be a rare issue. I’ve never had this problem in another SonicSega games such as the game or any other Sega games Yakuza series. Sega was contacted to confirm that this issue is known and that a solution is in the works. I will update this article if necessary. This is the only way I know of to solve this problem.

A helpful workaround

You can always count on Big to be there for you.

There are a handful of portals scattered around the various islands you’ll visit in Sonic FrontiersThis will take you to a tranquil fishing pond. This is how you can access a fishing minigame hosted only by Big the Cat. Everybody agrees that Big is the best. Sonic character.

Simply collect as many purple coins in the open world as you can, take them to the fishing area, complete the extremely easy fishing minigame, and you’ll be able to straight up buy Kocos in bunches. This is an excellent way to eliminate most of the grind. Sonic Frontiers, and I didn’t realize that until pretty late in the game. This is also a way to collect all the relevant collectibles in the game.

Still, it’s a bit of a bummer that I have to resort to that at all. The problem could be solved by simply putting a subtle outline around the Kocos, or using some other lighting. Alas, we’ve still got a ways to go when it comes to making games fully accessible.
