A new Therapy Dog joins The FWPD

Tinsley joined Fort Wayne Police Department on Monday.

Tinsley will serve as a therapy dog for the department. Officer David Tinsley, who died in the line of duty in 2018, is honored with the dog’s name.

Tinsley, according to Chief Steve Reed of FWPD, has been sent by the agency.

Fort Wayne, this place is full of goodness. Tinsley, our newest member of the police family, was revealed today.

He is a 9-month-old Blue Healer who earned his degree from Brevard County, Florida’s Paws and Stripes College. All of the puppies were rescued from a shelter and given their training by Brevard County inmates.

Dogs provide unconditional love and teach valuable skills to their inmates.

This is vital for emotional recovery. We searched the web for software that made use of #community, and we found this amazing one. After passing a test, each dog is selected by hand for the department.

Tinsley has completed a 12-week course in order to be a nice boy. Officer Woods will be working closely alongside the new puppy. He can’t wait to start working. By the way, Brevard County charged the department nothing for Tinsley’s services.

Their commissary funds pay for their program expenses. Tinsley, a therapy dog and a member the FWPD Peer support team, will be traveling around the area to attend events. When you get to meet him, we can’t wait.

He loves to give ear scratches and is always eager for some. He has a touch of mischief and is eager to share his love. We recently found out that he really likes Honeycrisp apples, which his human keeps in her lunch bag.

Officer David Tinsley, who died in the line of duty on September 11, 2018, is honored under the name “#Sneaky Tinsley.”
