A Florida officer saved a lost puppy from certain death.
Officer Bob Stebbins from the Lighthouse Point Police Department was quick to react when he saw a Florida dog dying.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the police department stated that at about 10 p.m., a “frantic caller” reported that her dog had leaped into the Intracoastal Waterway.
July 3, 2003 After responding to the report, Officer Stebbins arrived on the scene.
It took the small dog about 25 minutes to reach the water.
The officer couldn’t see the nose of the dog in the dark because it barely floated above water.
The dog’s leash was tangled in some dock pilings nearby, and Stebbins realized that something had to be done right now.
He quickly removed his gear, and dived into the pitch-black water.
The puppy was untangled and returned to the shore.
The owner of the dog was “overjoyed to be reunited with her family member,” according to the agency.
“Thank you, Officer Stebbins,” the statement concludes.
“Great Work!”
