Father of Idaho State University – slain student Kaylee Goncalves said in an interview Tuesday that the initial 911 call may have come in as an unconscious person report because his daughter wasn’t answering her phone.
Steve Goncalves, “Good Morning America,” stated, “I know that the girls reached out via texts and calling. So I can only assume the phones were ignored. Knowing how my daughter isn’t going to ignore calls or texting, so it is impossible for me to conclude by the phones being ignored.”
For the first time, he also revealed publicly that his daughter, Madison Mogen and her best friend used a designated driver service for their journey from the University to the suburbs. Kaylee Goncalves (21), Ethan Chapin (20), Xana Kernodle (20) and Mogen (21) were killed in a rented house on King Road, just yards from campus. Two female roommates lived on the basement level of the home and summoned friends in fear that one had died.

A 911 call receivedPolice report that police received a request for assistance at 11:58 am from a person who was unconscious. According to police, the call was placed on one of their surviving roomsmates’ phones. According to police, the victims were each stabbed multiplely by their attackers while they were asleep.
Many in the community were puzzled by the initial report that an unconscious person was on the scene due to the volume of blood.
Ethan Chapin and Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were found dead in a home just yards from campus.
Goncalves stated that he was first told of the death of Mogen and his daughter by friends on campus. Not police. He stated, “It is impossible to imagine sending your girls off to college and then seeing them come back in an Urn.”
He said that the killings were fast and that nobody was hurt and that nobody felt that much pain.
The family’s grief is made worse by the inexplicable murder of their loved one. “I don’t have the right to grieve as I want,” he stated. “I want justice to come first.”
