A dog taken from an abandoned house alerts the woman that she is not alone

Donna Lochmann, rescuer, anticipated that one adult dog would be living alone in an abandoned home when she pulled up to it near St. Louis. She was reported by a kind stranger to Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), who was informed that the dog’s family had relocated and left her behind.

Despite the fact that the home was empty and the dog was outside on her own, it was clear that she was not alone. Lochmann realized that she was being watched from outside by two additional pairs of eyes.

According to Lochmann (SRSL’s chief lifesaving officer), the two puppies appeared to have been between 6 and 8 weeks of age, which was confirmed by The Dodo.

Lochmann found it easy to transport the mother dog, but she struggled to control the puppies.

Lochmann said that the puppies entered a concrete patio below the fence. Because it was safe, “that’s presumably where they were staying for the most part.”

Lochmann was able to capture the smaller puppy after a few attempts, by placing her arm under the patio. However, the larger puppy refused to be captured.

According to Lochmann, “the bigger one really didn’t want me to bring her out.” She continued to bite me with her razor-sharp puppy fangs, but I resisted.

Lochmann reached out for a thick glove in order to protect her hand and inserted it into the gap once again. The anxious puppy was finally under her control.

Lochmann visited the veterinarian along with her mother dog Pumpkin Patch and her two puppies Eckert and Stuckmeyer. After their health tests were positive, the three dogs were taken into foster care.

Stuckmeyer and Eckert are currently being cared for in the same home. According to Lochmann, they both need to socialize and are still very scared. They should be able to get used to their foster home, which is made up of amiable adult canines, quickly.

According to Lochmann, “the older dogs are playing with the puppies and beginning to teach them the ropes of how to be a dog.”

Pumpkin Patch also moved into a foster care home, where she gets daily cuddles and lots of food. She also has a comfortable bed to rest in.

The staff at Stray Rescue of St. Louis will be sad to see Pumpkin Patch and her puppies go, but they are happy that all three dogs will live happy lives.

As opposed to trying to survive on the streets, “everyone is in a home now and learning what life is like in a house,” Lochmann added. They are doing better right now.
