A Florida manAfter a woman with a hatchet sticking out of her head was taken to the hospital, she was arrested for attempted murder.
Michel Dougherty, age 40, was arrested for one count of attempted second-degree murder.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Tuesday around 10:30 AM to an attempted murder.

56-year old woman was discovered by the deputies with a hatchet sticking out her head. The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Dougherty fled the scene of an attack before deputies arrived. His vehicle was later found by detectives in Gainesville, Florida.

After a woman with a hatchet sticking out of her head was taken to the hospital, a Florida man was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Just before 3:00 a.m., Dougherty was stopped by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office officer and taken into custody. He was taken to Alachua County Jail.

Dougherty will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail at a later date, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said. An active investigation is ongoing into the incident.
