Houston AstrosRelief Phil MatonAfter injuring his right pinkie fingers last week, when he punched the locker, he said Tuesday that he would miss the postseason.
Maton said he punched the locker because he was upset with his performance in his final regular-season outing last week and called it “selfish.”
“It’s one of those things that I hope doesn’t affect our team moving forward,” said Maton, who had surgery Monday.
James Click, Astros general manger, said that the team had been considering Maton’s inclusion on their postseason rosters before his injury. But the discussion was cut short by the injury.
